IAA "China Day": Li Guiping of CIMC Vehicles Joins Global Industry Leaders to Discuss Empowering the Future of Green, Smart Logistics through "Smart Manufacturing from China"

On September 16, "China Day"—a key national-level exchange event at IAA Transportation 2026—was grandly held at the Hannover Exhibition Center. The event was co-hosted by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the Automotive Sub-Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). VDA President Hildegard Müller, CCPIT Automotive Sub-Council Chairman Wang Xia, and Zhai Qian, Minister-Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Germany, attended and delivered speeches. Representatives from leading global commercial vehicle enterprises—including Daimler Truck, FAW Jiefang, Traton Group, Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle, CATL, and CIMC Vehicles—shared insights on topics such as international automakers' observations of the Chinese market, the policy environment for zero-emission heavy-duty trucks, product roadmaps, integrated tractor-trailer ecosystems, energy replenishment, and battery technology. Together, they explored how Chinese commercial vehicles can play a high-level role in reshaping the global transportation landscape.

Amidst the strategic interplay between major international vehicle manufacturers and battery producers, Li Guiping—Chairman and CEO of CIMC Vehicles (301039.SZ) and a leading figure in the global semi-trailer industry—delivered a keynote speech titled "Pure Electric Tractor-Trailer Combinations and Their Ecosystem: A CIMC Vehicles Perspective." He was the only speaker representing the trailer and special-purpose vehicle sector.

In his speech, Li noted that the era of global electric heavy-duty trucks has fully arrived; however, rapid industry expansion is accompanied by systemic challenges, such as a lack of forward-looking standards and infrastructure constraints. As the industry moves toward zero emissions, isolated technological breakthroughs are no longer sufficient to drive industrial transformation; there is an urgent need for a systemic architectural restructuring. To address these industry pain points, CIMC Vehicles proposed a solution: the steadfast construction of an "EV-RT" ecosystem, integrating vehicles, mobile energy replenishment, and marketing and service operation nodes.

Looking to the Future

Leading the Evolution of Global Standards through "Smart Manufacturing from China"

From providing standalone products to delivering intelligent logistics solutions featuring integrated tractor-trailer combinations for the electric heavy-duty truck era, Li Guiping’s speech demonstrated how CIMC Vehicles is leveraging its deep manufacturing heritage to showcase its strategic resolve regarding technological transformation and its vision for an integrated ecosystem on the global stage. In his concluding remarks, Li Guiping solemnly affirmed CIMC Vehicles' commitment to joining hands with global ecosystem partners in a spirit of openness and inclusivity. Moving forward, the company will leverage the formidable strength of "Smart Manufacturing from China" to spearhead the evolution of global commercial vehicle standards, comprehensively driving the transition of new energy heavy-duty trucks from mere electrification toward a future defined by the higher-level capabilities of intelligence and driverless operation.
